Review Policy

Before I Book is a patient-led platform for sharing private clinic experiences, prices paid, treatment journeys and practical information before booking.

This policy explains how reviews and experience submissions are handled.

1. What Reviews Should Be

Reviews should be:

  • based on your own genuine experience
  • factual and fair
  • relevant to a clinic, consultation, treatment, aftercare or price paid
  • written in your own words
  • useful to other people researching before booking

You may share both positive and negative experiences, provided they are expressed fairly and responsibly.

2. What Reviews Should Not Include

Reviews should not include:

  • abusive, threatening or discriminatory language
  • personal attacks
  • knowingly false information
  • accusations you cannot support
  • private medical records
  • confidential information about another person
  • personal contact details
  • information that could identify another patient without consent
  • unsafe medical advice
  • instructions telling others what treatment or medication they should use
  • promotional content from clinics or staff pretending to be patients

3. Negative Reviews

Negative reviews are allowed.

Before I Book does not remove a review simply because it is critical of a clinic, practitioner, price, treatment outcome or service experience.

However, reviews may be edited, rejected, temporarily hidden or removed if they breach this policy, create legal risk, include personal data, contain unsupported serious allegations, or include abusive or unsafe content.

4. Moderation

Reviews may be moderated before or after publication.

Moderation may include:

  • removing personal details
  • editing wording for clarity or safety
  • removing abusive language
  • removing unsupported allegations
  • asking the reviewer for clarification
  • asking for evidence or proof of attendance where appropriate
  • rejecting a review if it cannot be published safely

Where possible, moderation aims to preserve the substance of the user’s experience while making the content safe, fair and useful.

5. Proof and Verification

Before I Book may allow users to privately provide proof of their experience, such as an appointment confirmation, invoice, receipt, booking email, treatment plan or aftercare document.

Proof is used for verification purposes only and should not be published unless the user gives permission and personal details are removed.

A verified review does not mean Before I Book endorses the clinic, treatment or outcome. It only means that some supporting information may have been provided.

6. Clinic Responses

Clinics may be allowed to respond to reviews where appropriate.

Clinic responses should be factual, professional and respectful. Clinics should not disclose private patient information in public responses.

Clinic responses may be moderated before publication.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Clinic owners, staff, contractors, agencies or people connected to a clinic must not submit reviews pretending to be independent patients.

Any commercial, employment, family or financial connection to a clinic should be declared.

8. Medical Advice

Before I Book is not a medical advice service.

Reviews and comments reflect individual experiences only. They should not be treated as medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendation or a substitute for professional consultation.

Users with medical concerns should seek advice from a suitably qualified professional.

9. Takedown Requests

If a clinic, practitioner or user believes a review breaches this policy, they may contact Before I Book and request a review.

A takedown request does not guarantee removal. The content will be assessed against this policy and any relevant legal, privacy or safety concerns.

10. Editorial Independence

Before I Book aims to remain independent and patient-led.

Payment, sponsorship or commercial relationships must not influence whether a genuine review is accepted, rejected or removed.
