Before I Book is a patient-led platform for sharing private clinic experiences, prices paid, treatment journeys and practical information before booking.
This policy explains how requests to review, edit or remove content are handled.
1. Purpose
Before I Book aims to allow genuine patient experiences while also protecting fairness, privacy, safety and legal compliance.
A takedown request may be submitted if someone believes content on the website breaches Before I Book policies or creates a serious concern.
2. Who Can Submit a Request
A takedown request may be submitted by:
- a user who posted content
- a person identified in content
- a clinic
- a clinic representative
- a practitioner
- a legal representative
- another person with a legitimate concern
3. Reasons a Request May Be Considered
Before I Book may review content if it is alleged to include:
- false information
- abusive or threatening language
- personal data
- confidential medical information
- information identifying another patient without consent
- unsafe medical advice
- discriminatory content
- undisclosed promotional content
- conflict of interest
- unsupported serious allegations
- content posted by someone pretending to be a patient
- legally sensitive or defamatory wording
4. Requests Do Not Guarantee Removal
Submitting a takedown request does not automatically mean content will be removed.
Before I Book will assess the content against its policies and consider whether the concern can be addressed by:
- no change
- editing wording
- removing personal details
- asking the user for clarification
- asking for supporting information
- temporarily hiding the content
- removing the content
- allowing a clinic response
5. Negative Reviews
Before I Book does not remove a review simply because it is negative.
Patients may share negative experiences if they are factual, fair, based on their own experience and do not breach platform policies.
6. Information to Include in a Request
A takedown request should include:
- the URL or title of the content
- the reason for the request
- the specific wording being challenged
- the person or organisation making the request
- any relevant supporting information
- contact details for follow-up
7. Patient Privacy
If a takedown request involves patient confidentiality or personal information, the request should not include unnecessary private medical details.
Before I Book may remove or edit content to protect privacy.
8. Clinic and Practitioner Requests
Clinics and practitioners may request a review of content they believe is inaccurate, unfair, confidential or in breach of policy.
Before I Book may offer a clinic response option where appropriate.
Clinics should not use takedown requests to pressure users into removing genuine experiences.
9. Temporary Removal
Before I Book may temporarily hide content while a concern is reviewed, especially where there is a privacy, safety or legal issue.
Temporary removal does not mean the content has been permanently rejected.
10. Final Decision
Before I Book may decide to keep, edit, hide or remove content after review.
The aim is to balance patient experience sharing, fairness to clinics, privacy, safety and legal risk.
