Community Guidelines

Before I Book is a patient-led platform for sharing private clinic experiences, prices paid, treatment journeys and practical questions before booking.

These guidelines explain how users should take part in the community.

1. Be Factual and Fair

When sharing an experience, try to explain clearly:

  • what you booked
  • which clinic you attended
  • what you paid
  • what happened
  • what the outcome was
  • what you wish you had known before booking

You can share positive, negative or mixed experiences, but they should be based on your own experience and written fairly.

2. Be Respectful

Do not post:

  • abuse
  • threats
  • harassment
  • discriminatory language
  • personal attacks
  • repeated hostile comments
  • deliberately inflammatory content

Disagreement is allowed. Abuse is not.

3. Do Not Share Private Information

Do not post:

  • your full medical records
  • another person’s private information
  • another patient’s identity
  • private addresses
  • private phone numbers
  • private emails
  • confidential documents
  • information that could identify someone else without consent

If you upload proof privately, remove or hide unnecessary personal information where possible.

4. No Unsafe Medical Advice

Before I Book is not a medical advice service.

Do not tell other users what medication, dose, treatment or procedure they should have.

You may share your own experience, but you should not present it as medical advice for someone else.

If someone has symptoms, complications, urgent concerns, a changing skin lesion, infection, severe pain, bleeding or worsening symptoms, they should seek appropriate medical help.

5. No Fake Reviews

Do not submit fake reviews, fake prices or fabricated experiences.

Clinic owners, staff, agencies, contractors, competitors or people connected to a clinic must not pretend to be independent patients.

If you have a connection to a clinic, this should be declared.

6. No Undisclosed Promotion

Do not use the community to secretly promote:

  • a clinic
  • practitioner
  • product
  • treatment
  • agency
  • website
  • discount code
  • referral link

Promotional or commercial posts may be removed.

7. Keep It Relevant

Posts should relate to private clinic research, patient experiences, treatment journeys, prices paid, consultations, aftercare or questions before booking.

Off-topic content may be removed.

8. Clinic and Practitioner Mentions

You may discuss clinics and services based on your own experience.

However, posts should avoid abusive language, unsupported serious allegations, or personal attacks.

If you had a poor experience, explain what happened clearly and factually.

9. Moderation

Before I Book may moderate, edit, hide or remove content that breaches these guidelines or creates legal, privacy or safety concerns.

Moderation may include:

  • removing personal details
  • removing abusive wording
  • asking for clarification
  • asking for proof of attendance
  • moving a post to a more suitable section
  • rejecting or removing unsafe content

10. Community Principle

The aim of Before I Book is to help people make better-informed decisions before booking private clinics.

The community works best when users are honest, fair, practical and respectful.
